HAI offers the Hi-Fi audio system that allows you to share the music in your home even if you do not have an HAI home control system in your house.

HAI has several audio Connectivity Partners that integrate their music systems with HAI home control systems.

Hi-Fi by HAI

Have you ever walked around your home wishing that your music could follow you - that you could share the music located in one room with other rooms?

Would you like to control the volume with one simple knob? How about using this same knob to select and hear a music source located in another room?

Until now, purchasing such a sleek audio system meant spending a great deal of money.

Hi-Fi by HAI is seamless and allows music to live anywhere in a home and still be enjoyed everywhere in a home.

Hi-Fi by HAI Scenes

Hi-Fi by HAI is an affordable high fidelity shared Audio System that powers speakers through digital amplification. Note that it is not an A-Bus system.

Couple enjoying an Hi-Fi by HAI audio system Hi-Fi by HAI is available as a standalone Whole Home Audio system, or can plug and play with HAI's Omni home control systems and Lumina lighting control systems. Each of these systems can set each zone's source and volume for parties, watching TV, morning news, or any other activity.

Hi-Fi by HAI's components are modular, giving flexibility for expansion as needs change. The base system comes with 4 zones and 4 sources; however, it may be expanded to a maximum of 8 zones and 6 sources.

What makes Hi-Fi by HAI different?

  • Affordable high fidelity performance. It has three times more power than "amplified keypad" systems at similar cost. In addition to this power, there are two variable outputs (Zones 1 and 8) for connection to external power amplifiers, and a page/mute input.

  • OmniTouch with Hi-Fi screenVery easy to use. The Volume-Source Control (VSC) lets you select music source and change speaker volutme. It has a routed IR repeater. The main unit is mounted on a closet wall or in a structured wiring enclosure for a neat professional installation.

  • Plug and Play with HAI's Omni home control systems and Lumina lighting control systems. The Hi-Fi system can be controlled by the user through the OmniTouch Touchscreen, Snap-Link, or through automation programming. The home control system can select the source and set the volume for each zone to coordinate the audio system with your activities.
Main System Unit

Main Hi-Fi by HAI System UnitWith Hi-Fi By HAI there are no unsightly wires running to an audio rack; the audio controller is tucked away in a closet or basement. Since Hi-Fi uses digital amplification it runs cool and only gets warm under high volume levels. HAI offers a vented enclosure for this system.

The zone amplification is 10 watts RMS at 8 ohms per channel. It is 20 watts RMS at 4 ohms per channel.

The main unit may be connected to an external amplifier.

Volume-Source Control (VSC) Unit

Volume-Source Control Unit Place the wall mounted Volume-Source Control (VSC, shown at left) in any room that has speakers that you wish to control.

It features an easy-to-use turn knob to change music sources and volume control.

You have the ability to play any music that is connected to a Remote Input Module (RIM) - no matter if that RIM is in the same room or not! Play the music on your laptop located in the bedroom through the VSC and speakers in the kitchen by pressing the VSC down until it shows the number for the RIM connected to the laptop. Any number of VSC's can play music from the same source, which allows you to listen to the big game on every speaker in the house.

Turn the knob on the VSC to adjust volume, and press the knob and hold it to adjust bass, treble, or turn the entire system off. The display shows the source and volume level.

The color of the VSC may be changed to complement the interior décor. It comes in white and color change kits are available in white, almond, black, and ivory.

VSC's act as an infra-red repeater for source component control. Simply point the source's remote at the VSC and it will route the signal back to the original source component.

Remote Input Module (RIM)

Remote Input ModuleHi-Fi by HAI is the first built-in system that uses a Remote Input Module (RIM, shown at left), so music can be located anywhere instead of in an audio rack.

RIM's can be located throughout the house to pick up music from your home theater, kitchen TV, computer, personal music player, satellite radio, Media Center, CD player - any source with an audio output. You can even put multiple RIM's in the same room.

Place RIM's in rooms that will have music sources that you wish to share. When you plug a music source into a RIM using a standard stereo input jack, such as the one on an Hi-Fi by HAI retractable cable, it can be shared with any room that has a Volume-Source Control (VSC), even if that VSC is in a different room as the RIM.

Hi=Fi Retractable Cable Hi=Fi Retractable CableHAI offers two Hi-Fi by HAI 4 foot retractable cables to help you connect your audio sources to a RIM. One is a 3.5 mm male to 2 RCA male patch cable and the other is a 3.5 mm male to 3.5 mm male patch cable.

A maximum of 6 RIM's may be installed with an Hi-Fi by HAI system. RIM's may be placed in the same rooms as VSC's, and multiple RIM's may be installed in the same room.

The color of the RIM may be changed to complement the interior décor. It comes in white and color change kits are available in white, almond, black, and ivory.

RIM's feature a routed IR emitter jack and include a flasher to allow you to use the remote of your source equipment in any room that has a VSC.

Remotes

Hi-Fi by HAI RemoteHAI includes a basic remote that allows you to change sources and volume in the room that you are in.

HAI offers a programmable remote that you can use to learn the codes from your source equipment. It can then control your source equipment, as well as the source and volume for the room that you are in.

You may also use your source equipment’s remote control by pointing it at the Volume-Source Control (VSC) unit since each VSC unit has IR pass-through.

Paging

Hi-Fi by HAI allows an HAI controller that has a 2 way voice module installed to broadcast system annoucements over all zones. The Two-Way Voice Module will allow someone to broadcast messages through the phone by picking it up and dialing #82.

Zone messages will broadcast through a zone, even if it is turned off.

Wiring

Standard Cat-5 wiring is used to connect the digital amplifier with VSC's and RIM's. The maximum distance for one Cat-5 run from the Hi-Fi panel to a RIM is 500 feet, and the maximum distance for one Cat-5 run from the Hi-Fi panel to a VSC is 250 feet.

Standard speaker wire is used to connect speakers with the digital amplifier. The terminals on the Hi-Fi board are designed for 16 gauge wire and either 16 gauge or 14 gauge wire may be used.

Speakers

HAI does not sell speakers. Because the Hi-Fi system is using 20 watt digital amp cards lower wattage speakers sound better. You may use either 4 ohm or 8 ohm speakers.
